Why I am running ...
Thirty two years ago, I chose to live, work and
raise my family in this magnificent mountain side community. Throughout
that time, I have served the people and community by diverse work and
extensive volunteer involvement. As a result, I know our region well.
I am running for the State Senate because I want
my children and grandchildren to have the same chance to live and thrive
in this community with opportunity and optimism.
I want to continue to serve by bringing my
professional and business experience to bear on the issues and challenges
facing our region. I will seek solutions that bring us together and benefit
our entire community, so that our children and grandchildren will also want
to call it home.

Building on the
foundations of the past ...
City founders William Jackson Palmer and Spencer
Penrose, undaunted by obstacles, and undeterred by failures, envisioned and
built a community for their children and grandchildren. Self reliance,
perseverance, commitment to success and pioneer pragmatism were the foundations
for a unique city. Local leaders began a generous tradition of philanthropy
which led to the endowing of schools, museums, parks, libraries, child care
facilities, and social services for the underprivileged. These values and
traditions merged in Colorado Springs to create a City united, a community
with pride.
... making changes for the present ...
Today, Colorado Springs is a community on the verge
of change. The foundations of the past are echoed in our vibrant business
community. The continued tradition of philanthropy has led to the emergence of
the numerous community service organizations committed to the betterment of
everyone. However, we are confronted with the challenges to provide affordable
and comprehensive healthcare, to offer 21st century educational opportunities
and to create jobs paying good living wages. To address these challenges, we
need leadership with a vision and practical experience with a local
focus.
... ensuring a brighter future for our community.
To honor the vision, the values and the legacy of
William Jackson Palmer and Spencer Penrose, we must make a commitment to our
future for the sake of those who follow after us. By focusing on our common
interests rather than what separates us, by looking at our challenges as
opportunities, by using our strengths as currency, and by elevating community
values over expediency; we can create a bright future that is built on our
strong past.
